Definitely super important to have a budget and stick to it.

But there is still a lot of value to be had from lower value redemptions too, it just depends on your travel preferences.

Hyatt category 1 hotels for instance, are a steal at just 5,000 points per night. If someone’s looking for a long 1-2 week vacation they can really stretch their points by booking something like this.

Sounds like the average person with a CC will spend more with a CC, and while of course we can all be above average, why strive for that if you’re only going to get 2, 3, 5% value back? Too much effort and/or risk for too little reward.
