We have both the Barclays AA Mastercard and the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite Mastercard® so we keep the Barclays because it is chip and pin and works in unmanned kiosks in Europe (lifesaver), has same 10% points rebate on awards, and Barclays will often waive the fee or offer a spend bonus or statement credit. Then we downgrade the Citi card to this one (used to be the Bronze AA card). Wait out the application restrictions and then can reapply for the Citi AA Platinum Select. Biggest problem with AA miles is ever finding award space to Europe.

You’ll also want to skip it if your only choices for groceries is a Walmart. It won’t earn 2X miles there. Doesn’t matter if it is a Supercenter or a Neighborhood Market.
